Character without character limits: it's early Twitter, but better
Welcome to Chat! Most of us need quiet spaces for devotions, maybe even for political devotions. So except for the discussion devotion that ends each of the 52 devotional series, I've turned off comments for all devotions.
But we can chat anytime. What's Chat? To me, it's like Twitter in its infancy: communal and experimental. Well, like early Twitter except for its up-to-date tools and its lack of a discernible character limit. Maybe best of all, unlike Twitter ever, Chat has no algorithms, and your Chat communities are separate from one another. You choose what you see and which communities you chat with.
It’s fun. But I have another motive: Political Devotions currently is as good as I can make it without you. I hope to get your feedback to revise the series as the year goes on. So please give me feedback anytime on chat, even if the prompt is focused elsewhere.
As it is today. Prompt: Where in the world are you? If you'd like to, please take a pic outside one of your windows and explain something about what we see.
There are two ways to join our chat — on the web and on the free Substack app.
How to get started in your browser:
Go to substack.com/chat and sign in if necessary. You’ll see a row for my chat on the left.
Or how to get started on the Substack app:
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Substack Chat is available on both iOS and Android.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
Either way, I hope to see you there!
